Doctors told why athletes need to eat black currant
To conduct their experiments, New Zealand researchers recruited ten volunteers. All study participants were not professional athletes, but practiced regularly. They were given an extract of the berries in the form of tablets. Each tablet contains extract of approximately 1-2 ounces of black currant. It was necessary to take pills every day before and after training for three weeks.
Experiment results were striking: complaints of leg injuries decreased significantly. A medical examination showed a decrease in the number of inflammatory processes in tissues resulting from training. Scientists believe that the whole thing can be in compounds called flavonoids, specifically, anthocyanins. These compounds protect the body from stress and berries provide the color. In addition, the berries contain a large portion of the vitamin C that helps support the immune system to the proper level.
