Special sunglasses help with migraine
Sensitivity or photophobia, is a common symptom of migraine, which affects nearly 15% of the world population. More than 80% of migraine attacks are associated with light sensitivity, resulting in many people who suffer from migraines, tend to be in the dark and isolate yourself from work, family and daily activities that helps them feel better. The researchers found that the green light significantly reduces the sensitivity to light and may reduce the severity of the headache. Thus, the sunglasses that block all but a narrow strip of pure green light, could be a boon for people suffering from this disease.
During the tests, the researchers asked patients experiencing acute attacks of migraine, report any changes in headaches when exposed to blue, green, yellow and red light of varying intensity. Almost 80% of patients reported increased headache upon exposure of all colors except for green. It was found that even the green light reduces pain by about 20%.
