Scientists named the fruits that protect against obesity and diabetes
Researchers have found that the combination of the two compounds, which are contained in red grapes and oranges can be used to improve the health of people with diabetes, and reducing the incidence of obesity and cardiovascular diseases. These compounds include trans-resveratrol (Tres), found in red grapes, and hesperetin (HESP), found in oranges.
When administered in pharmaceutical doses of the compounds was observed lowering of blood glucose, increase insulin sensitivity and improve the health of the arteries. The study involved 32 people with overweight and obesity between the ages of 18 to 80 years. The body mass index of participants ranged from 25 to 40.
According to scientists, a compound present in grapes and oranges, act by increasing levels of the protein called Glo1, which neutralizes the damaging effects of sugar. Experts expect that in the future these compounds are available as pharmaceutical products.
