Glass of beer on a daily basis to protect against heart attacks and strokes
During observation for 80 000 people, US researchers have found that the natural decline in the high-density lipoprotein, also known as "good" cholesterol, slows down by a moderate use of alcohol. In particular, one or two glasses of alcohol for men and no more than one drink per day for women lead to a slowdown of the process reduce the level of "good" cholesterol compared to people who did not consume alcohol or abusing alcohol.
When the researchers tracked the use of a variety of alcoholic beverages, it was found that the greatest effect brings the use of beer. Observations were conducted among adults in China, but scientists have not followed the influence of wine on the process of reducing the "good" cholesterol. Currently, adults are not recommended to use more than 14 weekly doses of alcohol, which is not more than three liters of strong beer.
Presented their results at a meeting of the American Heart Association, scientists stressed that moderate drinking stops cholesterol-lowering "good" in people aged more than two times greater than the abuse of alcohol.
